RE and PSHE

RE
The
teaching of RE at Cippenham Infant School is delivered in Key Stage 1, through
weekly RE lessons in the individual classes and through Year group and whole
school assemblies. In the Foundation Stage, RE is taught through Knowledge and
Understanding of the World and Personal, Social and Emotional Development in the Foundation Stage Guidance.
The children learn about a range of topics during their time at our school using
the Slough Agreed Syllabus and Stanley Thorne Infant RE teacher's Resource book.
The topics include:
| Myself
New Life
Caring for each other
| Seasons and Change
Special Books |
Buildings |
| Moral Stories
Special Times |
Special Places
| Artefacts
Special People |
Giving and Receiving
| Exploring Beliefs
There is an overlap between the two
schemes.
As part of each topic a wide variety of beliefs from different
faiths are discussed and the children are encouraged to share their personal
experiences with their peers.

PSHE
Personal, Social, Health Education and
Citizenship is a very important aspect of the curriculum. It is vital to
make the children aware of the elements of a healthy life and show them how
to be a valued member of society.
At Cippenham Infant School we aim to teach the
children the following:
to stay as healthy as possible
to keep themselves and others safe
to have worthwhile and fulfilling relationships
to respect the differences between people
to develop independence and responsibility
to play an active role as members of a
democratic society
to make the most of their own and others
abilities.
Citizenship is taught through the non-statutory
guidelines from QCA and the SEAL pack in
Years 1 and 2, while in the Foundation Stage it is covered in the Foundation Stage Guidance
under the area of learning of Personal, Social and Emotional development.
